The incense blend can be used on an incense stove with tea light or on incense charcoal in an incense burner. If an incense stove is used, the incense mixture is placed on the sieve. It is advisable to place a piece of aluminium foil on the sieve so that oily components cannot drip into the flame and herbs do not burn too quickly. Another advantage is that the aluminium foil prevents the sieve from sticking and therefore does not need to be cleaned. The heat of the tea light heats up the incense and it begins to smoke and smell. When using an incense burner, sand is first placed in the bowl as heat insulation and then the incense charcoal / charcoal tablets are placed on top. The charcoal is lit and it is waited until the charcoal has glowed through. Only now is the incense mixture placed on the charcoal, which immediately burns up and evaporates, releasing the scent of the mixture. With this method, however, it is not possible to influence how quickly which component is burnt. Depending on the incense mixture, it should be decided beforehand which method is the better one. It is important that a fireproof base is used for both methods of application and that it is never left unattended.
